Mirage TD HEXIV

The Mirage represents the Target/Bare-bow version of the Black Douglas series offering bow lengths from 62" to 70" on two riser lengths 23" with bow lengths from 62" to 68" and 64" to 70" on the 25" riser.
Mirage 25" risers featured right of screen. The unit on the left is a standard riser crafted in Bubinga and featuring the CX option. (the CX option doubles the number of reinforcing Carbon composites and enables arrows of lighter mass to be used).
Riser right is a super Mirage crafted from Cocobolo and Shedua. The composite reinforcements diverge in the Super version.
Other wood options also include Zebrano, Honduras Walnut, Indonesian Rosewood, Santos Rose wood and Bocote.
The HEXIV is a highly advanced design that results from the very special bow facings that we produce in house. Shooting stability is our prime aim and speed second. However in this design we produced the TX40 bow-facing that has almost twice the strength of conventional bow materials and about 40% lighter. A significant reduction in limb mass has been achieved resulting in added speed coupled with reduced shock and vibration.

The TX40 laminate has an additional advantage in that the torsional stability has been drastically improved over XP10 levels. With this added stability we have redesigned the recurve enabling it to store even more energy and operate at lower brace heights. The string contact area of the recurve has been especially calculated to enable a range of brace heights to be achieved with exceptional low noise levels. This feature expands the ability of the archer to tune the bow to optimum performance.

The exceptional torsional stability generated by the TX40 bow-facings enables the highly advanced recurve design. These very high cord ration limbs have very good stored energy levels for speed. The TX40 bow-facings are also extremely light in weight making the action of the limb very efficient, another speed enhancement. This limb is the fastest and most stable limb that we make. It is exceptionally stable with around 20% added lateral stiffness. Added tunability and very low sound levels from this limb enhances an overall spectacular performance.
